Sexual harassment, violence and abuse is everywhere in the media. In today’s hyperconnected world, it can be difficult to take a healthy ‘time out’ when we need to. Overhearing or being included in casual conversations initiated by media coverage can be equally difficult to navigate.
From 2014 to 2016, we piloted a programme called MyLife, MyFuture. This programme worked with young people in local authority care, aged 11 to 14 and 15 to 18, in the London Borough of Sutton to improve their mental health and resilience.
Sade, Atheminee and Yana are 17 and have just finished their first year of sixth form. They want to talk to you about the pressures experienced by young people today, in and out of school, and how this impacts mental health.
